Notice of Filing Intent for Election to the School Board
The period for filing affidavits for individuals interested in running as candidates for the Columbia Heights Public Schools' (CHPS) School Board begins Tuesday, May 22, 2018 and closes 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018.
There are three School Board positions open; individuals elected will serve terms of four years each. To qualify as a candidate, an individual must meet the following requirements:
- Be an eligible voter.
- Be at least 21 years of age or more when assuming office.
- Live within CHPS boundaries at least thirty days before the general election.
- Have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.
- Must not be employed by Columbia Heights Public Schools.
Qualified individuals must complete all required candidate paperwork and pay a $2 filing fee at the District Center, 1440 49th Avenue NE, Columbia Heights.
The District Center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. For more information, call District Election Clerk Dawn Hoium at 763-528-4504.
