Boys Basketball Team Advances to State Tournament

The Columbia Heights High School boys basketball team is the Section 4, Class 3A Champions. The team advances to the State tournament, for the first time in five years, after defeating top-seeded Mahtomedi High School 73-63 Thursday, March 16 in St. Paul.

Heading into the game the Minnesota State Basketball Coaches Association (MSBCA) ranked the Hylanders ninth in Class 3A. With the win the Hylanders now have a 21-8 record and are now seeded #5 in the Tournament.

The Hylanders - coached by Willie Braziel - will play Fergus Falls noon, Wednesday, March 22 at Williams Arena located on the University of Minnesota campus.

Tickets will be available for purchase 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday (3/20 and 3/21) at Columbia Heights High School ($14 for adults, $9 for students, t-shirts $10). A community bus is also being organized. For more information, contact the Activities & Athletics Office at 763-528-4511.
