Thank you Voters

The Nov. 7, 2023 Columbia Heights Public Schools (CHPS) unofficial election results are now available on the Minnesota Secretary of State website. The unofficial results will be canvassed by the CHPS School Board at their meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The unofficial results show that the Operating Levy Referendum (Question 1) passed with 63.51% YES votes and 36.49% NO votes. The Capital Project Levy Referendum (Question 2) passed with 72.98% YES votes and 27.02% NO votes. The Special Election for CHPS School Board shows Michelle Pettway won with 63.42% of votes.

Superintendent Zena Stenvik provided a statement after the results were posted on Tuesday night. “The Columbia Heights Public Schools community turned out in support of children this election season. We are grateful for our strong and supportive community! Our School Board made the difficult decision to seek these additional, and very necessary funds to support our students. The additional operating funding and the renewal of the capital projects funding means that we will have financial stability and will be able to fulfill our mission of creating worlds of opportunity to each and every learner.”

Thank you to all of the members of the CHPS community for voting in the Special Election!
