Summer COVID-19 Guidelines

Face Coverings

  1. Required on school buses for all students and drivers (Wearing of face masks while on conveyances and at transportation hubs | Quarantine | CDC)
  2. At School:
    1. Childcare: Required for employees to wear masks through June 30 per DHS requirements. More details regarding the rest of summer will be forthcoming.
    2. Elementary: Required for students, strongly recommended for staff (students not eligible for vaccine)
    3. Secondary: Strongly recommended for staff and students
  3. Masks are NOT required outside at recess or outdoor activities

COVID-19 Testing

  1. No-cost, at-home testing through Vault
  2. No-cost, community testing sites

Fully-Vaccinated People
After travel...

  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
  • Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.
  • You do NOT need to get tested or self-quarantine if you are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months. You should still follow all other travel recommendations.

Not Vaccinated:       
After travel...

  • Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
  • Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
  • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
  • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
  • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
  • Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.

Social Distancing
CHPS will continue to encourage and practice social distancing when possible.


  1. All COVID-positive cases are still required to be reported to MDH. CHPS will continue to follow the MDH Decision tree (Recommended COVID-19 Decision Tree for People in Schools, Youth Programs, and Child Care Programs).
  2. Students that are exposed to a COVID-positive case (and not vaccinated) will still be required to quarantine for 14 days. Students with a positive COVID test will still be required to isolate for 10 days.
