District Celebrates 134 Collective Years of Service from 2020 Retirees
Six Columbia Heights Public Schools (CHPS) staff members are retiring after 134 collective years of service to the District. CHPS honors and thanks the following individuals for their unwavering commitment to the District’s students, staff and community.
- Columbia Heights High School Special Education Teacher Kim Anderson who has served nine years (2011-2020).
- Highland Elementary Education Assistant Deb Carroll who has served with the District since 1991(29 years).
- North Park Elementary Education Assistant Sue Gronwold who has served with the District since 2003 (17 years).
- CHHS FACS (Family and Consumer Science) Teacher Renee Janas-Johnson who has served 20 years (2000-2020).
- Superintendent Kathy Kelly who has served the District since 1998 (22 years).
- Valley View Elementary and Columbia Academy Speech Clinician Dianne Westberg who has served the District for 37 years (1983-2020).
“What an honor it is to celebrate such a wonderful group of people who’ve been so dedicated to providing worlds of opportunity for each and every learner,” said Superintendent Kathy Kelly, who is among this year’s retirees. “The District will certainly miss these outstanding individuals and we wish them the best of luck in their next chapters.”
In lieu of the District traditional career celebration, retirees were honored in late May with cards, flowers and a special retirement lawn sign courtesy of the District’s career celebration committee.
