School Board Approves New Valley View Elementary Principal
At its May 9, 2017 Regular School Board Meeting, the Columbia Heights School Board approved the recommendation of Mr. Edward Fellows to be the next Principal of Valley View Elementary School. Mr. Fellows will begin on July 1, 2017. He will continue to develop and maintain educational programs which align with increasing student achievement and creating college and career ready students.
Mr. Fellows will be responsible for meeting the diverse academic needs of over 540 pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. He will also lead, develop and support approximately 60 faculty and staff members.
Mr. Fellows has worked as an elementary principal in Texas since 2004. Prior to becoming an elementary principal he worked as a middle school principal, math coordinator and elementary teacher. He also worked as a 5th grade teacher for Minneapolis Public Schools prior to moving to Texas.
Mr. Fellows has a master’s degree in education administration and a bachelor’s degree in education. He holds an elementary teaching license and principal license from the Minnesota Department of Education.
Superintendent Kelly said, “Mr. Fellows will be a welcome addition to the Columbia Heights Public Schools administrative team. He brings with him years of valuable principal experience. He is excited to return to Minnesota and begin his work as the next principal of Valley View Elementary School. Mr. Fellows told me he is looking forward to meeting the Columbia Heights Public Schools students, parents, families and community.”
Mr. Fellows said, “I am very excited to be part of Valley View Elementary. My personal motto of 'Carpe Diem' or 'Seize the Day' is a great fit for the dynamic staff, committed students, and involved parents of Valley View. It is a great honor to be part of the Valley View family as I have a chance to come back home and continue to make a difference!”
Mr. Fellows will replace Principal Willie Fort who is retiring at the end of the 2016-2017 School Year.
