Superintendent

Dear CHPS Community,

Welcome to the 2025–26 School Year! This year, we will remain centered on our purpose. Centering on our purpose means keeping our goals and actions in line with the meaningful work we do each day. It’s about understanding what is at the heart of our purpose: educating and empowering learners of all ages. Columbia Heights Public Schools offers a well-rounded learning experience for students and families that includes:
  • Early Childhood programs, including support for parents of young children
  • Child Care after school, non-school days and during the summer
  • Advanced Courses
  • "Back to Basics" and "Beyond the Basics" lessons
  • Technology, Computer Science and Engineering
  • Music: Band, Choir, Guitar, World Music
  • Arts: Visual Painting/Drawing, Sculpture, Theater
  • Environmental Studies
  • Community Education Enrichment and Education Classes for Adults
  • and more!

In Columbia Heights Public Schools, this important work is guided by the three purpose statements outlined in our Vision 2030 Strategic Plan (seen on the right). Our highly-trained and dedicated staff bring this purpose to life each day: welcoming students into safe, nurturing classrooms, fostering curiosity and encouraging every learner to grow and thrive. As we begin the year, let’s stay connected to our shared purpose, support one another and continue to create the conditions where all can belong and succeed.

By working collaboratively, I am confident we will all have a great year!

Hylanders Have Heart!

Sincerely,
Zena Stenvik
