Beyond the School Day

Columbia Heights Public Schools supports a large number of opportunities for academic support and enrichment. Some programs are developed for specific needs and require an invitation from your child's school to participate. Most programs are free but some do include a fee.

Elementary

Adventure Club

Adventure Club provides high quality child care with daily fun and educational experiences.

Targeted Services

Targeted Services is designed to accelerate student achievement through individualized teaching strategies. Targeted Services provides learning opportunities for qualifying students beyond the school day at no charge to families. This extra learning time allows for instruction that is focused on the specific need of each student.  

 


Secondary

Driver's Education

Classes are offered through Safeway Driving School. Pre-registration is required. For more information, or to register, contact the Community Education Office at 763-528-4517.

CHHS Key Club

Columbia Heights High School students are welcome to join Key Club, a service club dedicated to developing leadership qualities in high school students directing student led community service opportunities.

Elementary

Elementary Summer School

Students who are currently enrolled in kindergarten through 5th grade and qualify for reading or math intervention will be invited to attend the Columbia Heights Elementary Summer School Program. This is an opportunity for students to receive intensive small group instruction in reading and math and provide a pathway to success in the upcoming school year. This is a half day program that runs for four weeks. For more information, please contact your child’s teacher or school principal.

Special Education Extended Year

Extended Year classes are available to students with this designation on their IEPs. For more information contact the Student Services Department at 763-528-4414.

Summer Academy

Summer Academy offers a variety of engaging accelerated courses for advanced students.

 


Secondary

Secondary Summer School

Secondary Summer School provides the opportunity to students to have additional time to master grade level standards and attain high school credits. Secondary Summer School is a half day program that runs for five weeks in the summer.

Credit Recovery

Credit Recovery is a short intensive course that allows students to gain credit for courses they did not pass by a narrow margin.

Credit Completion

Credit Completion is an intensive course that helps students gain credit for courses they did not pass due to significant missing work.
