2018 Bond Referendum

In November 2018, voters passed three bond referendum questions. The requests were for a bond not to exceed $17,013,311 for safety, security and modernization of educational spaces at North Park Elementary School (NP) and Columbia Heights High School (CHHS).

The Approval of the Bond Referendum:
• Improves safety and security deficiencies at North Park’s building entrance, student drop-off and play areas.
• Modernizes North Park Elementary School to provide for today’s learners.
• Modernizes aging performing arts spaces and creates new instrumental arts space at Columbia Heights High School.
• Enhances community access and facility use.

All Columbia Heights Public Schools students will benefit from the passage of the Bond Referendum questions. The improvements planned for North Park Elementary address the school’s building security and educational needs to match other District and area schools. The plans proposed for improved art spaces at the High School gives the District opportunity to retain and expand its performing and instrumental arts programming to keep our “hearts in the arts.” Community, civic and arts organizations can also expect to benefit from the passage from the 2018 Bond Referendum questions through increased access and modernization of space.
