Testing & Assessment

  • Columbia Heights Public Schools administers the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) each spring to students in grades 3-8, 10 and 11. Students in grades 3-8 take the reading and math test. Students in grade 10 take the reading test and students in grade 11 take the math test.

    Science is given to students in grade 5, grade 8 and the year students take their high school Life Science class. Special Education students may qualify to take the MCA-modified (MTAS) tests depending on their Individualized Education Plan.

    To help teachers with planning for instruction and supporting individual academic needs. The tests are not part of your student’s report card or grade.

    No. The answers must be the student’s own so that we can best support in his or her learning.

  • When will I get the results?

    At fall and winter conferences, your student’s homeroom teacher (grades K-5), or math/English teacher (6-10) can share the information.
