    Reports from Members of the Board

    Chair Naty Severson attended a School Board Chair Meeting and the virtual National School Board Association (NSBA) conference. She also had conversations with Member Mueller and community members.

    Vice Chair Lorien Mueller attended School Board Chair Meeting, a Minnesota School Board Association training and a virtual synchronized swim meet. She also had conversations with Member Severson, Member Lewis and several parents and community members.

    Clerk Laura Palmer attended a Northeast Metro 916 Board meeting, the virtual NSBA conference, and had conversations with Member Granlund and Superintendent Stenvik.

    Treasurer Hala Asamarai did not report.

    Director Mary Granlund attended the virtual NSBA conference, a PTO meeting and had conversations with Member Palmer, parents and community members.

    Director Molly Lewis attended the virtual NSBA conference, and had conversations with Member Mueller, Superintendent Stenvik and community members.

    Superintendent's Report
    Superintendent Zena Stenvik shared the disappointed felt around the District after the death of former Columbia Academy student Daunte Wright -- Stenvik thanked staff for coming together to support one another and our students during this time. The Superintendent shared that District staff participated in Professional Development which was successful. She shared this past Monday marked the start of quarter 4, which brought additional students back on site. Superintendent Stenvik gave a reminder that the District continues to monitor COVID-19 case rates and is taking appropriate measures to mitigate the risk. She also had conversations with various Board members.

    North Park School for Innovation Branding Update
    Executive Director of Educational Services Bondo Nyembwe and North Park School for Innovation Principals Jeff Cacek -- along with Director of Finance & Operations Bryan Hennekens, Director of Teaching & Learning Tara Thukral, Director of Community Ed & Communications Kristen Stuenkel, Technology Integration Specialist Jennifer Hauswirth and North Park Science Teacher Stan Mraz -- presented information about completed projects and updates on projects under development at North Park School for Innovation. View the presentation.

    North Park has been rebranded to provide students with a STEM focused curriculum that also emphasizes sustainability and creativity. The branding process is the result of extensive renovations, community engagement and a recommendation approved by the school board to transform the school. Read the press release.

    Online Learning
    Executive Director of Educational Services Bondo Nyembwe, Director of Teaching & Learning Tara Thukral, CHHS Principal Dan Wrobleski, Personalized Learning Facilitator Leslie Maher and Technology Integration Specialist Jennifer Hauswirth presented information on the District becoming an online learning facilitator. Under the guidance of the Superintendent, CHPS is pursuing the formal process to become an approved online learning provider.     Northeast Metro 916 Joint Powers Agreement
    Director of Finance & Operations Bryan Hennekens and Northeast Metro 916 Executive Director of Finance & Operations Patrick Jacobson-Schulte presented information on proposed changes to the joint powers agreement with Northeast Metro 916.

    Northeast Metro 916 Agreement for Services
    Director of Special Education John Fry presented information on the Northeast Metro 916 Agreement for Services. The agreement is for the purpose of Northeast Metro 916 providing special education and/or related staffing to students enrolled in and receiving educational and related services at CHPS.

    Assessment Update
    Director of Teaching & Learning Tara Thukral and Research & Assessment Coordinator Disa Fabeck presented information on state and district assessments for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the pandemic, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) provided districts guidance around required assessments for the 2020-2021 school year. CHPS continues to monitor student progress using classroom and districts assessments. View the presentation.

    Climate Survey
    Director of Teaching & Learning Tara Thukral and Research & Assessment Coordinator Disa Fabeck presented information on the Comprehensive School Climate Inventory which is given each year. This inventory was given to students in elementary, middle and high school. The survey was also offered to all parents and school staff. View the presentation.

    K-12 Activities Update
    K-12 Activities Director Matt Miller and K-12 Activities Manager Jake Henderson presented an update on winter and spring activities. They also gave updates regarding participation, video streaming and upcoming programing.
