    Reports from Members of the Board

    Chair John Larkin attended the joint meeting of the School Board and the City of Columbia Heights Council, a School Board Chair meeting and the Columbia Heights holiday train community event.

    Vice Chair Naty Severson attended the joint meeting of the School Board and the City of Columbia Heights Council, a School Board Chair meeting, CHHS swim meets and an Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD) meeting with Superintendent Kelly.

    Treasurer Lorien Mueller attended the joint meeting of the School Board and the City of Columbia Heights Council, and had conversations with community members.

    Clerk Laura Palmer attended a Northeast Metro 916 Board meeting, the joint meeting of the School Board and the City of Columbia Heights Council, and the Minnesota School Board Association delegate assembly.

    Director Hala Asamarai attended the joint meeting of the School Board and the City of Columbia Heights Council, and had conversations with community members.

    Director Molly Lewis attended a CA girls basketball game and both CHHS boys and girls varsity basketball games.

    Superintendent's Report
    Superintendent Kathy L. Kelly attended the joint meeting of the School Board and the City of Columbia Heights Council, the monthly licensed labor management committee meeting and the AMSD Board meeting. She chaired the Tri-metro budget sub-committee meeting, participated in the North Suburban Post-Secondary Success consortium committee meetings, and attend the School Board Chair meeting. The Superintendent also had coffee and conversation with the City of Columbia Heights Fire Chief and interactions with board members

    Minnesota Student Survey
    Director of Teaching & Learning Tara Thukral and Research & Assessment Coordinator Disa Fabeck presented information on the Minnesota Student Survey (MSS). The MSS is a valuable source of information about issues vital to the health, safety and academic success of young people. It is used by school districts, county and state agencies, community organizations, students and parents to understand the world of young people and develop effective ways of supporting students and families. The survey has been given every three years, since 1989, to students in grades 5, 8, 9 and 11. Responses are anonymous and the survey is optional. View the presentation.

    Pre AP Update
    Director of Teaching & Learning Tara Thukral and Research & Assessment Coordinator Disa Fabeck presented an update on Columbia Heights High School’s Pre AP pilot. This pilot was started in the Fall of 2019, with 9th grade students. The pilot will continue into the 2020-2021 school year with an additional class added in grade 10. View the presentation.

    Pay 2020 Levy
    The School Board approved the Pay 2020 Levy.

    Valley View Window Replacement Bids
    The School Board approved the Valley View window replacement bids.

    Resolution to Combine Precincts for Special Elections
    The School Board approved a resolution to combine precincts in the event of a special election.

    Board Policies -- Second Reading
    The School Board approved the following policies: 506 – Student Discipline; 510 – School Activities; 514 – Bullying Prohibition Policy Form Only; 515 – Protection and Privacy of Pupil Records; 516 – Student Medication; 524 – Technology and Internet Acceptable Use and Safety; 530 – Immunization Requirements Form Only; 532 - Use of Peace Officers and Crisis Teams to Remove Students with IEPs From School Grounds; 802 – Distribution of Obsolete Equipment and Materials.
