Reports from Members of the Board
Chair John Larkin attended the March 5 School Board Work Session, a School Board Chair Meeting and high school conferences. He also attended Performing Arts Night.
Vice Chair Naty Severson attended the March 5 School Board Work Session, a School Board Chair Meeting and an Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee on Community Engagement meeting. She also attended the Performing Arts Night and had conversations with community members.
Treasurer Lorien Mueller attended the CHHS band concert, high school and Columbia Academy conferences, and Performing Arts Night. She also met with Superintendent Kathy Kelly, had conversations with parents and participated in an Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee on Community Engagement meeting.
Clerk Laura Palmer attended the March 5 School Board Work Session, Performing Arts Night and a Northeast Metro 916 Board Meeting.
Director Hala Asamarai attended the March 5 School Board Work Session, high school conferences and an Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee on Community Engagement meeting. She also had conversations with community members.
Director Molly Lewis attended the March 5 School Board Work Session, and high school and Columbia Academy conferences. She also attended a couple of Boys Varsity Basketball games and had a chance to watch the 6th grade theater performances at the middle school.
Superintendent Kathy Kelly announced that the National Country Music Association Foundation has indicated Columbia Heights Public Schools well become a collaborative partner with them beginning in 2019. She also shared that Northeast Bank presented the District with $6,750 to support the ongoing curriculum in Finance in the Business Office at the high school and announced a scholarship would be awarded to a CHHS student for the next five years in memory of Larry Pietrick and his contributions to the school and community. The Superintendent attended Performing Arts Night and thanked the Columbia Heights Music Boosters and School Board Member Lorien Mueller. She also shared that the New York Study Seminar trip leaves March 23 citing how excited the group is for the experiences the will have. She thanked the Columbia Heights Music Boosters and Columbia Heights Athletic Boosters to help students raise money for the trip. She also had conversations and meetings with various School Board Members.
