    Vice Chair Naty Severson participated in conversations with community members  and the Vote Yes committee meeting,

    Treasurer Lorien Mueller participated in conversations with community members and parents.

    Clerk Hala Asamarai participated in the Candidate Forum for CHPS School Board Candidates, Vote Yes committee meeting, and conversations with community members.

    Director Molly Lewis participated in Candidate Forum for School Board Candidates, Vote Yes Committee Kick-Off meeting, Mayoral and County Commissioner Candidate Forum, National Night Out, and conversations with community members.

    Director Laura Palmer participated in conversations with community members, attended the Vote Yes Committee Kick-Off, attended the Mayoral and County Commissioner Forum, Candidate Forum for CHPS School Board, and attended 916 Board Meeting.


    Superintendent's Report

    Superintendent Kathy Kelly attended a presentation on Accuplacer study, attended an internal election committee meeting for Aug 14 primary election, attended meeting between CH Booster and CHPS Activities and administration, MSBA Summer Leadership Conference, MDE Supt Back to School conference, meeting with Vice Board Chair and conversations with school board members.


    Reports and Information Items

    E-12 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook 
    Executive Director of Educational Services Zena Stenvik, CHHS Principal Dan Wrobleski, Highland Elementary Principal Michele DeWitt presented information on the Columbia Heights Public Schools E-12 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook. This was created collaboratively by all the district principals and directors. Each family will receive a copy and it will be posted on the website. Discussion by School Board members about procedures included in the handbook and school board policies that are referenced in the handbook. This informational item will be brought forward as an Action Item at the August 21 Business Meeting. View their presentation.

    Employee Handbook
    Director of Human Resources Lindsey Bennett presented information on the 2018-2019 Employee Handbook. Minimal changes were made from last year and it has been reviewed by the district legal counsel. This informational item will be brought forward as an Action Item at the August 21 Business Meeting.

    Placement Center Report/Ethnicity Report
    Executive Director of Educational Services Zena Stenvik and Director of Special Education Dr. John Fry presented information on the Placement Center Report/Ethnicity Report. There is no governance question with this presentation. View their presentation.

    Minnesota Department of Education Review and Comment
    Director of Finance and Operations Bernice Humnick and Director of Technology, Security Services and Operations Bryan Hennekens presented the positive Review & Comment letter received from the Commissioner of the Department of Education on the school construction proposal at North Park Elementary and Columbia Heights High School. This authorizes Columbia Heights Public Schools, ISD #13 to proceed with these projects with voter approval. Minnesota Statutes, section 123B.71, requires the commissioner to include comments from residents of the school district in the review and comment. As of July 13 no public comment was received. There is no governance question with this presentation.

    The School Board approved the request for continued Metro ECSU membership for 2018-2019.

    Northeast Metro 916 Special Education and Related Staffing Agreement
    The School Board approved the Northeast Metro 916 Special Education and Related Staffing Agreement.

    TIES Withdrawal Agreement
    The School Board approved the TIES Withdrawal Agreement.

    Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD) Membership
    The School Board approved the AMSD Membership for 2018-2019.

    Director Molly Lewis: Minnesota School Board Association Legislative Liaison, Minnesota State High School League and Liaison to Highland Elementary School.
