    Oct. 18, 2016 Work Session

    Additional Work Session

    The School Board discussed adding a Work Session for Nov. 15, 2016. The requested additional 5:30 p.m. Prior to the requested Work Session will be a 5 p.m. Listening Session and followed after with a 7 p.m. Business Meeting. The School Board agreed to move this item forward for action at the Oct. 25 Business Meeting. 

    Superintendent's Goals

    Superintendent Kathy Kelly shared her goals for the 2016-2017 school year with the School Board. She shared her goals are contractually aligned to the Strategic Roadmap. The first is a continuation of a multi-year goal for building the E-12 American Indian Education program. Her second goal is to collaboratively enhance, starting with a pilot program, day treatment for 6-12 students. The Superintendent's third goal is Leadership Professional Development (financial).


    Superintendent Kelly noted the new Mission Statement and Core Value signage in the Community Room and that permanent benches have been installed at the Pfc. James D. LaBelle Memorial Plaza located in front of the District Center.

    Vice Chair Laura Palmer: Northeast Metro Intermediate District 916 Board, School Board Policy Sub-Committee and Liaison to the Family Center.

    Treasurer Molly Lewis: Educational Cooperative Service Unit, Minnesota State High School League, Liaison to the City of Columbia Heights, School Board Policy Sub-Committee, Liaison to Columbia Heights High School.

    Clerk Ted Landwehr:Minnesota School Board Association Legislative Liaison, TIES, Columbia Heights Business Council and Liaison to Columbia Academy.

    Director Naty Severson: School Board Policy Sub-Committee and Liaison to Highland Elementary School.

    Hala Asamarai: Liaison to Valley View Elementary School.
