    • Chair John Larkin participated in the March 8 Business Meeting and the March 8 and 15 Work Sessions. He also spoke at the 2016 AP District of the Year Ceremony and attended the School Board Chair and Policy Sub-Committee meetings.

    • Vice Chair Laura Palmer participated in the March 8 Business Meeting and the March 8 and 15 Work Sessions. She also attended the Cafe 49 event at Columbia Academy and Highland Night PTO. She attended a Northeast Metro 916 meeting, a National School Boards Association meeting and various seminars and sessions. She also attended the School Board Chair and Policy Sub-Committee meetings.

    • Senior Vice President of Advanced Placement and Instruction for the College Board Trevor Packer, the College Board – Board of Trustees Pamela Paulson, School Board Chair John Larkin, Columbia Heights High School Principal Dan Wrobleski and Superintendent Kathy Kelly.

      Treasurer Molly Lewis participated in the March 8 Business Meeting and the March 8 and 15 Work Sessions. She also attended the 2016 AP District of the Year Ceremony, the Annual Manners Breakfast at Columbia Academy and a Varsity Track meet.

    • Clerk Ted Landwehr participated in the March 8 Business Meeting and the March 8 and 15 Work Sessions. Landwehr attended the 2016 AP District of the Year Ceremony, West Metro Education Program (WMEP) Executive Committee and Finance meetings, a MetroNorth Chamber Business Council meeting and a Valley View PTO meeting. He also attended a meeting to discuss the next steps for the former Castle Heights playground.

    • Director Naty Severson participated in the March 8 Business Meeting and the March 8 and 15 Work Sessions. She also attended Girls Night Out at Highland Elementary school, a Girls Varsity Softball game and a Boys JV Baseball game.
    • Superintendent Kathy Kelly participated in the March 8 Business Meeting and the March 8 and 15 Work Sessions. Superintendent Kelly spoke at the 2016 AP District of the Year Ceremony and thanked the College Board, faculty, staff, students and other who made the event possible. Superintendent Kelly visited the City of Columbia Heights Fire and Police Departments to thank them for their support of this School District. She also met with the St. Anthony-New Brighton Superintendent to discuss possible additional collaborations and integration between the two districts.
    North Park Elementary School Facilities

    Director of Finance and Operations Bill Holmgren, Director of Technology and Security Services Bryan Hennekens, North Park Elementary School Principal Jeff Cacek, and representatives from both Cunningham Group and Kraus Anderson provided the School Board an overview of the school facility. North Park Elementary School was built in 1966 and has had minimal facility improvements since it opened. The building, parking lot and play areas are all in need of upgrades.     Valley View Drive Reconfiguration

    Director Holmgren briefed the School Board on the safety need to reconfigure the entrance, exits and portions of the parking lot at Valley View Elementary School. This project will be funded from the 2014 Capital Projects Levy. Click here for the presentation.
    Columbia Academy's winter musical was The Lion King, Jr. Dylan Lentz, Jefferson Paladines and Mohamed Hegazi competed in the State 5AA finals Robotics students work on their robot at a competition.
    Back: San Stockwell, William Cooke, Marcos Ferreira and Ben Bardell made it to the state relays.

    K-12 Activities

    K-12 Director of Activities and Athletics Matt Miller provided the annual update, which includes those activities and athletic events that have taken and are taking place this school year.     Canvassing 
    The School Board approved a resolution to canvass the results of the April 5, 2016 School Board Election B (click here for more information about the special elections and results)
    .

    Walking Distance and Transportation
    The School Board approved the changes to the walking distances for kindergarten students and to make transportation available to all kindergarten students effective for the 2016-2017 school year as discussed at the March 15 Work Session.

    Columbia Academy Tuckpointing Bids

    The School Board approved
    the bid of $216,795 from Western Specialty Contractors. The bid was $107,924 less than the highest bid. Work is scheduled to begin this summer.

    Resolution for Termination, Elimination and Reduction of Programs

    The School Board approved the resolution.

    Resolution for Termination of Probationary Administrative Employees

    The School Board approved the resolution.

    Hylander Exercise Room Position
    The School Board approved the request to eliminate the Hylander Center Exercise room position as discussed at the February 16 School Board Regular Meeting.
